I really think that it’s important to remember @staff are trying to phase out custom blogs! Literally the most fun and interesting part of Tumblr and a very awesome selling point of Tumblr’s entire model.

That’s part of their whole ‘Tumblr’s not easy to use’ bullshit. They’ve been working at it for months now, you can’t even access someone’s custom blog from mobile anymore and like not even on the mobile website.

So yeah that theme and those pages you worked so hard to make unique and interesting? The webcomic hosted on Tumblr in such a way that it basically has it’s own website? The ARCHIVE of your blog that you can pretty much only access from a button on your custom blog? It’ll all go down the gutter if we don’t yell until our voices go hoarse.

This is a BLOGGING website the point of the website is THE BLOGS! I didn’t work hard to maintain my blog and keep the pages on it looking pretty for some hack at RND to decide it needs to go to make way for their ‘definitely not-Twitter’ ideal website. I swear to god the loss of our custom blogs will be the exact last straw for me and I WILL leave.

HOW TO SWITCH BACK TO OLD TUMBLR LAYOUT.

YES, theres a fix, and sadly no, it isnt xkit. its a google extension called ‘stylus’ with this specific code

tutorial:

step 1 - install the stylus extension

step 2 - go to “Old Tumblr Dashboard (July 2023) by Pixiel” (already linked) and hit install on that. you will be met with a page that looks like this

copy and paste ALL OF IT, even the part that says “/*Dont touch this its needed*/ }}” (seems obvious but some people miss it! no judgement here!)

step 3 - in your extensions bar, click on stylus. you’ll be met with these options

step 4 - select “manage”

then, you will meet a page like this.

from here, you’re going to want to click on “write new styles”. you’ll be met with a box that looks like this.

go ahead an copy and paste the code into that box. when doing so, you’ll be met with these options. go ahead and click “overwrite style”

in the top left hand corner where the red box is, go ahead and type “Tumblr” and hit “save”

and with these simple steps, you can turn this

into this!

I wish tumblr were more customizable

I’ve gotten the old dashboard (Mostly) back thanks to Pixiel’s stuff and Stylus (for firefox; For Chrome) and I’ve edited everything to make it cooler and to compensate for the shitty-ness that I am still unable to change (custom dasbboard palette which allowed me to add the background). My edits are far from perfect and sometimes the custom background clips into the blogs but at least it’s somewhat mine. At least I have some control over it.

Idk it’d be nice if I could just move the dashboard a little more to the center and change the stuff on the side to have pictures that I WANT to show pinned, and some other stuff would’ve been cool as well.

I mean, I thought the whole point of tumblr before was for it to be your own customizable space. Scrolling through Stylus options I can’t help but lament the various personalized dashboard options that just… don’t exist anymore.

Idk, one of the greatest bits about tumblr was the customizable blogs for me. They looked really cool and drew me into the website in the first place, after all what other popular social media allowed you to change your own space so easily like that?

And now It’s forcefully changing your space into…twitter.

It’s just… It’s not good you know? anyways.

Also jaune both has an older sister and can definitely relate with this with Ruby and also is an older brother of many younger sisters so is probably happy to be seen like that again

Also poor Ruby is leaving home for what could be YEARS knowing yang CANNOT follow her or be with her or anything and she didn’t even say goodbye and she’s just completely without her sister for the first time ever like they can’t even CALL it’s got to be so devastating for Ruby not to mention she’s doing this after two or more of her close friends have died and she JUST WOKE UP FROM A COMA
